The primary commercial activity was mud farming which was performed by indentured servants called "mudders". The mud was exported offworld and used in the manufacturing of ceramic components. The bulk of the population was impoverished. The moon appeared to be owned by a magistrate named Higgins. Jayne Cobb became a folk hero to the mudders in the town of Canton due to his role in a botched heist about 4 years prior.
