Persephone was a planet orbiting the Protostar Lux in the White Sun system. It was under the rule of the Anglo-Sino Alliance. Closer to the border worlds than Sihnon or Londinium, Persephone, while considered a civilized planet by Alliance standards, was still home to a large slum population. Therefore, one could find both the pinnacle of high society and the depths of the criminal underworld amidst the planet's famously tiered societal structure.

The Eavesdown Docks were located here, as well Badger's base of operations. Shepherd Derrial Book had been living on Persephone at the Southdown Abbey.

Simon Tam and River Tam, Shepherd Book, and Lawrence Dobson were picked up here.[1] The planet was also the site of a swordfighting duel between Malcolm Reynolds and Atherton Wing.[2] Persephone's name came from Greek mythology as the name of the "Queen of the Underworld".
