The S.S. Walden was a modified Hanover Class officially registered as a Salvage ship, and unofficially utilized as a Pirate Ship. The Walden operated in a remote sector of the 'verse with a crew of at least six. Following a successful salvage mission on Ita, the Walden's crew responded to Serenity's distress call, but attempted to hijack the vessel when they learned that the only crew member aboard was Captain Reynolds. The crew was turned back to the Walden after a brief confrontation and continued on their way.
