Wright was the captain of a starship who had taken at least one job as a slaver. He brought his crew, sometime after his slave-transportation mission, to a bar on the world Santo. There, he bragged to Malcolm Reynolds and Jayne Cobb about the fortune he had made selling slaves to planets where disposable labor was needed for terraforming crews. He noted that he did not have to feed the captives, nor modify his ship much besides the addition of stronger locks and better doors. Reynolds stole a large wad of paper money from Wright during the pool game. When Wright deduced the theft earlier than Reynolds had anticipated, he confronted the Serenity captain, only to be knocked down. Wright's crew and friends began a brawl, but Reynolds, Cobb, and Inara Serra escaped with the slavers' money.[1]
